"Confidence is the ability to feel beautiful, without needing someone to tell you." ~ Mandy Hale

"Be Bold, be YOU!" is a slogan that was created by Jorrie Reed in 2013, as part of her Self Esteem Awareness platform. It simply translates to "be strong and confident in who you are, and above all, be YOURSELF!" Miss Reed conceived the slogan when she was competing for the title of Miss Illinois Plus America 2013. Her loved ones thought of her as very confident and bold, because unlike most people who shy away from being in the spotlight, Jorrie embraced it with poise and class. Jorrie’s mission is to teach young girls and even women how to walk boldly and confident and remain humble. In doing so, Jorrie likes to make young and older women aware of the advantages, along with the disadvantages of self esteem. She also emphasizes the importance to uplift and support each other as women in a society where the true essence of a woman is getting lost in translation through the generations. In recent years, Jorrie discovered that being of service to others also helps build character in people. She thrives off of giving back to others and volunteering her time to help those in need. Like many other women, Jorrie takes pride in her appearance. Although she knows that beauty will eventually fade and material things won't last always, Jorrie likes to look the part whenever she steps foot out the door. She loves to show society that full figured women can look just as beautiful and fashionable as other women who would be considered the "social norm". During her reign as Miss Illinois Plus America 2014 and now Miss Plus America 2014, Jorrie makes it a personal priority to promote her slogan "Be bold, Be YOU!" wherever she goes, and even on her social media accounts. She aspires to inspire, and to be a walking example of the principles in which she is promoting!
